电视剧《棋魂》中，时光的扇子是褚赢送的，扇子和棋谱是褚赢留给时光最后的礼物。棋谱在寺庙懒和尚已经给了时光，扇子也可能是懒和尚托人送给褚赢的妈妈，由时光妈妈放到时光桌子上的。

这把折扇，是南梁时期，一个非常厉害的棋手送给褚赢的。褚赢本来想与这位棋手对弈的，但找到他时，棋手已经病入膏肓。

临终前，棋手将自己的折扇送给褚赢，很明显，作为南梁最顶尖的两位棋手，他认可褚赢，更希望褚赢能够把围棋精神传承下去。而褚赢将折扇送给时光，也是认可了时光。

虽然褚赢离开了，但是他的棋却留了下来，时光在梦中从时光手中接过那把折扇，也完成了古今围棋精神与技艺的传承。从这个角度看，褚赢并没有离开，他只是以另一种形式存在于棋盘之上。

该剧改编自堀田由美原作、小畑健作画的日本同名漫画《棋魂》。讲述了时光在机缘巧合之下发现一个古老的棋盘，从而认识了盘踞在棋盘内、历经千年的南梁围棋第一人——褚嬴，并在他的熏陶下逐渐对围棋产生兴趣，并励志成为职业围棋手的故事。

The play is adapted from the Japanese manga "Soul of Chess" of the same name written by Yumi Hotta and drawn by Takeshi Obata. It tells the story of time discovering an ancient chessboard by chance, and thus getting to know Chu Ying, the first Go player in Nanliang who has lived on the chessboard for thousands of years.
