2013年3月1日，周凯亮联合好友谢臻麒谋划如何弑杀父母，他们准备好工具后，周凯亮以自己买房为由将父母引到一套破旧的房子，母亲推门进去后被谢臻麒一刀杀害，父亲准备逃跑时，周凯亮将其摁倒在地，谢臻麒上去帮忙解决掉。

周凯亮在父母死后没有任何犹豫，与谢臻麒进行分尸，两人还把肉块放进锅里炖煮，再裹上塑料袋放到冰箱冷冻，在此之前，周凯亮已经想好了处理尸体的方案，这样做可以保证尸体两年内不发臭。

周凯亮为了应付哥哥回到家，在哥哥问起父母去哪时，周凯亮回答很淡定，所以哥哥没有怀疑，吃完泡面就去睡觉了，第二天，周凯亮告诉哥哥，父母去旅游了，可是一连两天，周凯亮的哥哥都没有联系上父母，所以他很担心。

周凯亮一边跟哥哥在网上找父母的下落，一边处理父母尸体，后来，兄弟俩就报了警。周凯亮早就料到这天，已经提前准备好了一套说辞。周凯亮没过多久就被抓走了，因为警方查到周凯亮曾跟游戏好友吹牛说自己杀了父母，还说一些细节。

在警方的打压下，周凯亮说出了实情，原来周凯亮对父母一直有不满，但父母花费了很多精力和金钱培养周凯亮，还送他出国留学。周凯亮随着年龄增长，越来越叛逆，因长得矮经常被嘲笑，他觉得这都是父母的错，加上他迷恋炒股，四处借钱，都赔光了。

在法庭上是周凯亮为自己辩解，说父母都是谢臻麒杀的，之后法院测试了两人的智商，证实谢臻麒没有能力策划这场谋杀，他只是参与了掩埋尸体，被判一年有期徒刑，而周凯亮被判终身监禁。
