1937年方大曾跟另外三名记者前往卢沟桥前线进行采访，也是在那一年，方大曾失联，音讯全无，所以大部分人认为方大曾作为战地记者，很可能牺牲在了抗日前线，那时候他才二十五岁，正值风华正茂的年纪，实在令人惋惜。
